CHRISTMAS TRANSFER ADVENTURELAND
Y'all ready to hear the most emotionally exhausting roller-coaster week? Sister Weight and I probably felt every emotion humanly possible. Won't tell you how it ends... you just have to read...
Monday: THE START OF THE RIDE
- You know how at the beginning of a huge roller coaster you are excited, nervous, and have high expectations, but have no idea what is coming? That is how the week started. It's transfer week and NO ONE is ever safe from transfers. Even at Christmas.
- Pday was so much fun! Sister Weight's English cousin came and took us out for dinner! Let me tell ya. The BOUGIEST place I've ever set foot. We had to take an elevator (or lift as they say here) to get to it! It had big open windows to overlook all of Cheltenham! It was so gorgeous as the sun was setting! (Yes the sun started to set as we at lunch...) We had all the cutlery, plates, and glasses on the table! It was so fancy! I had the fanciest burger I've ever had and it was so good! Sister Weight's cousin is so sweet!
- After Pday we had an amazing lesson with our friend Michael! It was our first full lesson with him and it went so so so good! Want to know the best thing ever? When the friends that you are teaching are taking notes during the lesson and writing down scriptures to read later! And that's exactly what Michael did! So excited to continue teaching him!
Tuesday: DOUBLE LOOPY LOOP WITH TEARS
- There is no other way to explain this, so I'll just have to say what exactly happened.
- Sister Weight and I finished institute and got on our phones to join our mission's zoom meeting. I saw that we had missed a call from one of the APs... it's transfer week... so that meant that they were calling for new leadership assignments... which meant that I would be leaving. I burst into straight tears because I do not want to leave Sister Weight! Ever! And I love this ward and our friends with my whole heart! So during the whole mission meeting it was just Sister Weight and I crying.
- We called the APs back and sure enough they asked me if I would be an STL (Sister Training Leader- aka Zone Leader for the sisters). I accepted the assignment while crying and the APs asked, "Are you excited? It's going to be great!" I am excited.
- We go to tell some of the YA in the ward that I would be leaving and then this one guy from the stake starts talking to us. I have no idea how it happened but I guess in 6 months this guy is going to fly to Idaho, give me Nigerian food, and we are going to get married. Um. What? My brain could not function and I was mega confused. "In 6 months that tag is going to come off. You can't wear it forever." All I said is that I want food... not marriage. So that was weird and I don't really recommend it.
Wednesday: THE TWISTS AND TURNS YOU DON'T EXPECT
- Tuesday night was the worst nights sleep I've had my whole mission. Probably got 30 minutes to an hour. I wasn't sleeping so I thought I would make good use of my time and pack up my stuff. So we woke up pretty exhausted.
- We had DC and since I'm leaving I made everyone homemade bacon Mac and Cheese! Then... the transfer board came out to say where everyone was going and who with... I could not be bothered to look at it. Then one of the Elders said, "Sister Hope! You are staying! Let's go!!!" To be honest I did not believe him. BUT IT WAS TRUE! I get to stay in Cheltenham!!!! With Sister Weight!!! As an STL! And Sister Olander is the other STL! Sadly she is still in the Forest, but I'm so hyped about this next transfer! Not sure what I'm doing or how it's going to work... but I'll figure it out!
Saturday: SMOOTH FINISH
- GUESS WHAT! On Friday one of the APs called us and... we got a car! Y'all have no idea how much of a blessing that will be! It is going to solve so many problems! Prayers work! Miracles do happen! So we trained down to Bristol, got to see my mission grandparents, and partied back to Cheltenham while bumping to our Christmas jams!
- Had another powerful lesson with our friend Ify and his daughter Excel! These two are so amazing! We were planning on teaching about the Plan of Salvation, but then Ify asked us about something he found on our website. "I saw that you find names for your family and do baptisms for them. Is that needed?" So we had the opportunity to teach them about baptism, the spirit world, and temple work! All backed by scripture, so Ify really liked it! Then Excel asked us why God lets bad things happen in our life. So we read Ether 12:6 with her! She loved it and marked it in her copy! Excel is the coolest! She is only 13 and is so excited to learn about the church! They were both asking questions and were so engaged the whole lesson! Love them! They also came to church! Let's go!!!
Yeah... it was a long roller coaster ride... But it had an amazing finish! So excited for this next transfer with Sister Weight in Cheltenham! Feeling so blessed! Love y'all and Jesus loves you too! Merry Christmas!
