WALKING ON SUNSHINE (for real)
Y'all will never believe this week. So many crazy and unexpected things happened. Get ready for a big email.
First thing: the whole UK decided to move to the face of the sun. Even Sister Boamah says it's hot outside... and she is from GHANA. Honestly, I kind of love it tho! Getting that vitamin D that I need! Plus people feel bad and talk to us longer! Let's go!!!
Monday: "OPEN YOUR BIBLE TO PSALMS"
- After Pday we taught 3 lessons in 1 day! I have never done that my whole mission, so that was pretty cool! We taught our friends Joy, Eric, and Sharonanne! They were good lessons, but Eric's was pretty interesting...
- Picture this: We call Eric, catch up, and pray. All the good stuff. We are about to start teaching him about the Holy Ghost then Eric says (read in Nigerian accent), "OPEN your Bible to Psalms 16:11, WAIT. I need to pray. OH FATHER! The other day Daniel said... (continues to pray while Sister Boamah and I are trying not to burst out laughing.) Eric then reads Psalms 16:11 and asks us, "What is God saying to us here?" Which ended up being the perfect lead into us teaching the Holy Ghost! At the end Sister Boamah volunteered to pray and Eric said, "NO. You need to PRAY Sister. Me and your friend already did." Honestly, I was so glad this was a phone call lesson cause we could not stop laughing! He is funny!
Wednesday: I CAN DRIVE LEGALLY!
- Guess who is now a legal UK driver... ME! Got to drive to Cheltenham to take my practical (on the road) drivers test! On the way there, some warning lights popped up on the dash... If you show up and anything is wrong with your car they automatically fail you and you lose your money. So I said a prayer and the warning lights went away! I was very nervous for my test because I've heard that they are really harsh and most people fail the first time, but I said a prayer. I was so calm, my mind was clear and I was confident! AND I PASSED!!! I know I shouldn't be surprised when God answers my prayers by now, but I can't help it! It's like waking up on Christmas morning and being surprised and excited that there are gifts under the tree. You know that there is going to be something magical there, but it amazes you every time!
Thursday pt.1: THE GOOD PART
- Remember the guy we met tracting named Nathan? We taught him this week! Not only him, but his wife too! Her name is Claudia, and they want to keep meeting! They are both the sweetest things ever! Nathan did not grow up in a religious home, but he has always wondered about it. When we knocked on his door, Nathan said that he knew he needed to meet with us! Claudia grew up in a really religious home, but wants to learn more! Especially because they are starting their own family! It's so cute!
Thursday pt.2: NOT SO GOOD PART
- We were BASHED HARDCORE. I have never been bashed this hard my whole mission! I guess there is a first for everything!
- We got to the end of our time tracting and we were at the last door. Just before that, we passed a cute family and we waved and walked on. When we knocked on the door, we hear behind us... "MORMONS. I HATE MORMONS." The dad we just passed started yelling at us from across the street! Sister Boamah asked him why and he answered, "Because you are terrible people. You worship a racist, drunk, pedophile. I bet both of you are from Utah!" Which we both answered: NOPE! He then went on and on about how Joseph Smith is what we believe to be our Savior (I guess that is what is at the top of the temple according to some vlogger... which is the furthest thing from the truth) This basher kept on asking us questions to see if he could catch us slipping up, which he couldn't... so he would go back to saying that we have a different Jesus, Joseph Smith is a racist, how we are in a cult, and we are terrible people. ALL WRONG. We eventually got away, after being yelled at for what seemed like an ETERNITY!
- I had so much anger, frustration, and honestly hate in my heart for this guy. This was another first for me. How could he be so cold hearted and mean? I wanted to cry, yell, and punch something, but that wasn't going to get anywhere. So I said a prayer instead.
Friday: ANOTHER PRAYER ANSWERED!
- Woke up Friday morning, still a little upset about the basher, so I said another prayer. Then I read this in my personal study:
"And thou shalt declare glad tidings, yea, publish it upon the mountains, and upon every high place, and among every people that thou shalt be permitted to see.
And thou shalt do it with all humility, trusting in me, reviling not against revilers."
Doctrine and Covenants 19:29-30
- BAM! Another prayer answered! God truly knows our hearts! He knows what we need to hear when we need to hear it!
So my conclusion of the week: PRAYER WORKS!!! So keep on praying! I love you all and Jesus loves you too!
