Double Decker Dang It

Wait What? I've been a missionary for a month? Already?

This week was very interesting for sure... To start it off with an explanation of the title of my email...
I got to ride a double decker bus!!! Not as magical as I thought, but still cool! One of the days, when I was climbing up the stairs, the bus jumped forward and I fell down the stairs... embarrassing. While falling down the stairs I managed to sprain not one, but both of my ankles... so fun haha! Did I not tell my companion until 3 days later... maybe...

Monday- PDay!!!
PDay was a party! We went to a funeral... no really haha
Finally got a waterproof coat! What a blessing! (Even though it has not rained since I got it)
I finally got to meet Dennis! Dennis was baptized last year and is 93! He makes every sister missionary a handmade leather bag with a personalized quote. And I got mine! It is gorgeous! He is just the sweetest!

Tuesday-
All of our appointments for the week canceled on us... ouch!
We knocked on a lot of doors and most of the people wanted us to come back! So cool! Definitely feeling more comfortable and confident with my door approaches! Sister Olander said that people were never this nice before I came haha!

Wednesday- Oh Dear...
So we woke up and we had no hot water and our gas was completely out! (On the island we have to buy our gas and electricity from a convenient store) So we quickly ran to the store to get more. The gas and heating would not turn on!!! We called every person possible and everyone basically said, "sorry we can't help you." After being on hold FOREVER. Right before we went to bed, Sister Olander and I said a quick prayer and tried it again... IT TURNED ON! MIRACLES DO HAPPEN! God is good!

Thursday-
My 1 month and Sister Olander's 4 month mark! We went to a cute little Cafe and they had DR. PEPPER! What a blessing! (They usually just drink pepsi or weird sodas here)

Friday-
Did a lot of door knocking and had my first door slammed in my face! Woot woot! Oh well! It's his loss haha!
We had a dinner appointment with the Palomos (family from Spain) and they made the most amazing meal I've had since getting here! Some Spanish chicken and rice thing.
We do a lot of Facebook finding here where we message people to see if they want to hear a short message about Jesus. People either say no, sure, or they go on a tangent about how religion is the worst thing to ever happen... I had one of these on Friday. She honestly asked a lot of good questions! (sadly in an angry way) Sister Olander and I were able to help explain to her why there are so many different branches of Christianity, the role of science in religion and that we believe in both the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I was expecting her to bash us some more but she didn't! She told us that what we were saying made a lot of sense! And even though she won't believe what we do, she has a lot more respect for our church! So cool! God is too good!

Saturday-
We volunteered at a park run! We just stand there wearing neon pink and cheer on people while they run. It was so fun and such a beautiful day!
Had district council! My district is so fun and I have learned a lot from them!

Sunday-
Ya'll I love Sundays! Today I met Gertrude! She just moved to the island from Zambia and is not a member, but absolutely loves going to church! She was so excited about church that she showed up at 9! We don't have church until 10:30!!! And next week she is bringing 2 of her friends with her to church! We have our first official lesson with her this week! So excited!

The sun was shining all week and it was beautiful over here!

Favorite Scripture of the week-
2 Nephi 22:2
Behold God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid; for the Lord JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also has become my salvation.

I love you all so so much! I would love to talk to ya'll! Just shoot me a message through email or on Facebook messenger! Love you and Jesus loves you too!!!
